Crews working to restore water to customers in Achill

Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore water supply on Achill Island this morning following the repair of a major burst over the weekend.
Customers in Curran, Cloughmore, Shraheens, Dereens, Cashel and surrounding areas are experiencing a disruption to their water supply.
Crews are on the ground and every effort is being made to repair the issue as quickly as possible and return a full supply to customers.
In the meantime, alternative water supplies are being deployed this morning to the following locations:
- Lavelle’s Dooega,
- Salia National School
- Currane National School
- Tonragee National School
- Pattens Car Park, Dereens
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per advice from the Health Service Executive.
Uisce Éireann’s Colette Scahill assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply water as quickly as possible.
“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works are ongoing. It may take a number of hours for reservoir levels to be restored.”
