Works underway to repair burst water main in Castlemartyr

Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a burst on a water main in Knockane, Castlemartyr in County Cork. Initial repairs were completed earlier today with further repairs now underway following a subsequent burst this evening. 

Customers in the area may be experiencing outages or disruptions to their water supply. To support customers alternative water supplies in the form of a tanker will be in place in Knockane P25K793 from 7pm this evening. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Michael Bell, Water Network Operations Manager, Uisce Éireann, said: “Our crews successfully completed repairs following the initial burst earlier today. Unfortunately, a subsequent burst has occurred this evening. It is expected that the second repair will be completed by 2pm tomorrow, Thursday 15 January. We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and thank customers for their support while works continue to restore supply.”

Typically, it takes a number of hours following the completion of works before water supply is fully restored to all impacted customers, and it may take longer for customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
