Growth and Development Programme - Crodaun Wastewater Network Upgrade

Uisce Éireann is installing new wastewater infrastructure in Celbridge to support future growth and development in the area.

The works involve the installation of over 2.1km of sewer pipeline to cater for the future growth and development of the wider Celbridge area. These works are being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s Growth and Development Programme.

The section of works will take place between the existing Castletown Wastewater Pumping Station and Crodaun, via Castletown Estate, Castletown Drive and the R405 Maynooth Road.

This project is being delivered to support existing and future developments within the community. It will improve the capacity of the existing wastewater network in the area, improving performance and reducing demands on the current network.

The works are being carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Coffey Construction and are expected to be completed in early 2027.

Project Update – January 2026

The first phase of works will take place at Castletown Drive in Celbridge.
Castletown Drive, from the Main Street junction to the R405 Maynooth Road junction, will be closed to public traffic between Tuesday 20 January and Saturday 09 May 2026 under a rolling closure arrangement, allowing the work area to move progressively along the route.

Diversion routes will be clearly signposted, with access for residents of Castletown Drive maintained at all times. The site team will liaise directly with residents as works approach individual properties.

Diversions will follow the R405, with northbound access via a right turn into Castletown Drive and southbound access via Main Street and a left turn into Castletown Drive.

Road Closure

From Tuesday 20th January, the section of works at Castletown Drive will be from the junction with Main Street to the junction with Castletown Court. Local access is maintained at the R405. It is anticipated that this section of works will take 2 to 3 weeks to complete, and works will then move to the next stage, between the junction with Castletown Court and the junction with The Avenue.
